At NMC, our aim is to develop a cultural space which caters for the spiritual, social and educational needs of the local Norbury Muslim community, as well as to promote and convey the ‘true’ understanding of Islam to the wider community as exemplified through the prophetic traditions. We aim to do this in part, but not exclusively by: 1. Encouraging and demonstrating how Muslims should integrate with wider society in accordance with the dictates and spirit of Islam 2. Working on establishing greater unity between disparate Muslim groups in the local area 3. Working to foster greater understanding between Muslims and the wider non-Muslim community 4. Rekindling the spirit of brotherhood and service to the community (Muslim and non-Muslim) in the way that was exemplified by the Prophet (may the peace and blessing be upon him) and his companions
Norbury is fortunate to have active resident associations which, along with trying to develop a sense of community, are keen to help maintain and improve the area for local residents. The resident associations have been instrumental in campaigning to keep Norbury Library from closing, as well as, amongst other issues, helping to keep our streets tidy. The Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, 'Whoever sees something evil should change it with his hand. If he cannot, then with his tongue; and if he cannot do even that, then in his heart. That is the weakest degree of faith.' (Muslim) And he said, Whoever removes something harmful from the road of the Muslims has a good deed written for him. Anyone who has his good deed accepted will enter the Garden.' (Bukhari) We would like to encourage all Muslims in Norbury to try and participate with their local resident associations in accordance with the dictates of our faith, in order to make our community a better place.
By supporting NMC, you're also supporting the local community. From the elderly to the young both male & female, you can help us facilitate for a various amount of activities & programs.
We are a not for profit organisation & so our running costs are all based on community donations. Without your help, we would not exist!
Every time that a forehead touches the ground, every time that a child recites a letter from the Qur'an, every drop that a person makes ablution with, you will share in the reward Insha'Allah.
